Synergism and coherence
Synergism in Biodanza is the expression of unity in diversity: the capacity of our parts, systems and energies to work together to perform a common action. In the body it manifests itself when movements are coordinated naturally, where arms and legs accompany each other in a silent dialogue that sustains balance and projects forward momentum.
In Biodanza sessions, we cultivate synergism through integrated movement. We do not seek for one part of the body to act in isolation, but for the whole organism to express itself in harmony. Synergism is especially evident when walking, running or jumping, when the arms move in coordination with the legs in a cross rhythm. This synchrony between voluntary and involuntary movements favours the balance of the body and strengthens the energy that propels us forward.
In everyday life, synergism is reflected in this same principle: when our thoughts, emotions and actions are aligned with a clear direction, existence flows with less effort and more meaning. It is when we stop acting in fragments and start living from inner cooperation, allowing each gesture, decision and link to contribute to a dance that is coherent with our essence.
“It represents the joint and coordinated action of different structures and systems involved in carrying out a single action.Rolando Toro).
The transition from rhythm to melody
At Biodanza, We develop the ability to move from rhythm to melody through dance, that space in which movement driven by the vital force opens up to the world of emotion.
When we move with rhythm we feel the power of being alive; when we enter into the melody, this force softens and becomes affective, communicative and close. It is the sweetness that transforms vital energy into an encounter. When rhythm and melody are integrated, harmony appears: a dance where strength embraces, and where the gesture is born from the balance between impulse and feeling.
“In neurological terms, the passage from rhythm to melody is the passage from instinct to emotion” Rolando Toro.
